Liverpool's docks handled a large share of Atlantic trade including, in the eighteenth century, the majority of the British slave trade — the International Slavery Museum on the waterfront addresses this in the buildings that profited. The Beatles came out of the same port culture, formed by records that sailors brought back from America before they reached British shops.
