Wuzhen

Wuzhen was rebuilt as a heritage attraction from 1999, with residents relocated from the east scenic zone — a curated approach that is either preservation or theatre depending on your view. It hosts the annual World Internet Conference and a serious theatre festival, and the writer Mao Dun was born in a house on its canal.
