Delft
Blue and White
Portrait
Delft potters copied Chinese porcelain in tin-glazed earthenware from the seventeenth century and made the blue-and-white that carries the town's name; vermeer painted thirty-four surviving canvases here without ever leaving. The Oude Delft canal comes first, see the View of Delft in The Hague half an hour away, and visit a pottery where the painting is still done by hand.
