Danish modernism made chairs, lamps and cutlery that are still in production sixty years on — Wegner, Jacobsen and Juhl designed for factories rather than galleries. The harbour was so polluted in the 1990s that swimming was banned; a twenty-year clean-up means people now swim in the centre of the city, and half of commutes are by bicycle.
