Bologna
Fat and Learned
Portrait
The Cineteca di Bologna is among the most important film restoration laboratories anywhere — it has restored Chaplin, Fellini and Pasolini, and each summer projects the results onto a screen in the Piazza Maggiore for free. The city has thirty-eight kilometres of arcade, the oldest university in Europe from 1088, and a reputation for food summarised in its nickname, the fat one.
