Solomeo

The Cashmere Hamlet

Portrait

Brunello Cucinelli bought the ruined castle here in 1985 and rebuilt the village around a philosophy of dignified work: a theatre, a library, a school of crafts, and factory hours that stop at half past five. Whether or not you buy the philosophy, Solomeo is the rarest thing in Italian manufacturing — a company town built to be beautiful.
