The Council of Trent sat here from 1545 to 1563 and defined the Catholic response to the Reformation, which is why a small Alpine city has frescoed palazzi and a cathedral out of proportion to its size. See the Castello del Buonconsiglio and the MUSE science museum by Renzo Piano, then take the cable car to Sardagna for the valley.
