Tetouan
The Andalusian Medina
Portrait
Muslims and Jews expelled from Andalusia rebuilt Tetouan from 1484, bringing Granadan craft, architecture and street patterns with them, and the medina remains among the most complete and least altered in Morocco — small, whitewashed and largely closed to vehicles. Spanish rule until 1956 left an art deco ensanche beside it, which is the other half of the town.
