Whistler and Blackcomb were rival resorts until they merged in 1997, and the Peak 2 Peak gondola of 2008 links them across 4.4 kilometres with the longest unsupported span in the world — three kilometres between towers, 436 metres above the valley. The 2010 Olympics brought the road and the rail link, and the mountain bike park in summer is as busy as the winter.
