Val d'Isère sits at 1,850 metres with lifts to 3,450 on the Pissaillas glacier, which keeps snow into June, and the Face de Bellevarde hosted the 1992 Olympic downhill and holds a World Cup race most Decembers. The Espace Killy, named for the local triple gold medallist, links it to Tignes across three hundred kilometres of piste.
