Ravello sits three hundred metres above the coast road, which is why it is quiet when Positano is not, and the Villa Rufolo's gardens made Wagner write in the visitors' book that he had found Klingsor's magic garden. A summer festival now plays on a stage cantilevered over the drop, with the orchestra apparently suspended above the sea.
